I decide to let Brayden come with me; the class is an hour. He’s been doing fine on the couch and hasn’t had any signs of concussion or anything bad, but I’m still worried about him. The fresh air may do him good.

We put on our jackets, and I drive us to the gym.

I am apprehensive but also excited to be getting out and about and doing something for a worthy cause. Giving back is something I always said I would do, and this is exactly what I had in mind. I’m passionate about helping other women, especially in domestic violence situations.

I grab Brayden a can of soda from the vending machine, and he goes to watch the muscleheads through the clear window in the weight rooms.

When we arrive, I see Angel and a bunch of her friends. I’m introduced to Lily, Sienna, Kennedy, and Cassidy. I also learn that they’re all with members of the Bracken Ridge Rebels.

These men must be like the Magic Men of the biker world to snag these hot chicks. Maybe I need to get myself over to the clubhouse… then I think of Knox and his recent involvement with the motorcycle club. As I said, I don’t know much about the club, and I don’t hold any judgment. Once we got past Brock’s fierce appearance and obstinate personality, I learned that he’s actually a pretty nice guy. Gruff, but any guy who loves his family and shows attention and affection to his kid tells you everything.

“Welcome to the best place in the world to live,” the dark-haired one named Lily said. “I’m Steel’s sister. He’s the big mean-looking one with a temper and a permanently furrowed brow.”

“You mean meaner looking than Brock?” I laugh.

“Yep, my old man is Gunner. He’s gorgeous. Here, let me show you a picture.”

I smile as she pulls out her wallet from her purse and flips it open.

Wow. They do make them hot around here. He’s blonde, tanned with some facial hair, and a smile that could melt your panties right off. He reminds me of Charlie Hunnam.

“Wow, Lily, he’s gorgeous.”

“Oh, he knows it,” she says, tucking her wallet away. “He models and has his own pierced jewelry line.”

“You’re forgetting Gunner after Dark,” Sienna pipes up, then behind her hand, she whispers to me, “A naughty website where you can see him completely naked for money.”

My eyes go wide.

“Not completely naked!” Lily defends. “You don’t see his… you know what… I told him that is where I draw the line. If he wants to go on Only Fans, he can find another broad. That hot dog is mine.”

The girls snicker, and I do too. They seem like a cool bunch. Maybe a little wilder than what I’m used to, but I dig that. I’ve always been a little off the radar myself, ever since I ran away from home. Having Brayden slowed all of that down and I’m thankful for it. I came out the other end, and I thank my lucky stars every single day.
